Will using BLOOM⁴³ increase my risk of bleeding during or after surgery?
BLOOM⁴³ works by gently increasing blood flow to the skin using controlled heat. This helps improve the breast skin's circulation before your procedure, which supports healing. The increase in blood flow is limited to the area being treated and does not affect your circulation throughout the rest of your body, or by affecting your blood's ability to clot.
Some people notice temporary redness of the skin after using the device. This is a normal response to the increased blood flow and usually disappears within a few hours, before your operation begins. Although the redness fades, the beneficial effects on the skin's circulation continue after the procedure.
There is no evidence that using BLOOM⁴³ increases the risk of bleeding during or after surgery. In clinical studies, the rate of bleeding complications requiring a return to the operating room was similar to that reported in patients who did not receive preconditioning. Our existing patients have not reported any bleeding-related issues.
Your surgical team also uses a number of well-established techniques to minimize bleeding during your procedure. These may include injecting a solution containing adrenaline to reduce bleeding, sealing small blood vessels using special equipment, and, where appropriate, giving medications to help reduce blood loss. Your surgeon will use the techniques that are most appropriate for your procedure to help ensure your operation is as safe as possible.
